www.ladies-compacts.com is basically
myself, Nigel Rigby, and my wife, Jennifer. Jenny has been a collector for
years and I have got caught up in the hobby through her, I've always said that I
must be the male world expert on compacts through osmosis (it turns out there's
a chap with a doctorate in compacts or something!). Anyway, I am an IT bod
and love mucking around with websites and this just seemed like a good idea.
I realised that there are just hundreds of variations of thousands of types of
Compact. There is a good chance that some of the items that we own are unique
and that no one else has them or knowledge that they exist. I thought to myself
"there must be lots of people out there in the same position". If we could
share and pool our knowledge we can extend the overall knowledge available.
Up until now we only have a few books* as a reference and there is nothing on
the Internet that gives a consistent free resource for Compact Collectors.
So here it is. It's designed for all to reference and add to, Oh I do hope
people add to it we only have a few hundred compacts ourselves which we will post
ourselves.
We are Powder Compact Collectors ourselves but hope that collectors of all types
of compact will add to this pubic and free resource. We hope that Solid Perfume
Collectors and Collectors of other Vanity items such as Reticules and the like will
also add their items.
I can't see how we will ever make any money out of this, as it is such a specialist
area, so please click on the adverts whenever you find something useful on our site
to you.
We hope you like the site and find it useful,
Warm Regards
Nigel and Jennifer Rigby

*Books.
Although I am a computer man, books are always better in their way.
I would just like to pay homage to Roselyn Gerson, who has been the author of
a magnificent series of books on compacts. These have become bibles to us
and we recommend that everyone gets a copy or two or three! We have all the
editions of all the Books by the following authors and each has additional information
in them. I should point out that the older editions are still worth buying because
they have information in them that is not in later editions.
Also I would like to point out Laura M Meuller's Books which are also fantastic
resources for the Ladies Compact Collector.
Finally the following book by Juliette Edwards is also a small but good
additional resource.
